A good web designer will offer expertise, good advice and deliver their clients' needs for their website

Nothing drives a website visitor away more than a dull, static website with frustrating, illogical navigation. Maybe it’s time to consider rebuilding or refreshing your website.

Here are 6 reasons why you should rebuild or refresh your existing website.

1)    Make better use of the “prime real estate” on your landing page

2)    Improve user-friendliness with user-intuitive menus and better navigation

3)    Consider new features to enhance the website experience

4)    Make it mobile-compatible

5)    Revamp your brand image

6)    Regularly maintain your website and fix existing issues

1) Make better use of the “prime real estate” on your landing page

First, let me explain what I mean by landing page prime real estate. The first thing visitors see when they open your website is the most important part of your homepage – the “prime real estate”. The section should immediately resonate with your visitors, capturing and enticing them to scroll further.

An impactful statement or image that offers a tangible solution to your visitors’ needs is the smart way of using this most valuable of places on your website. Here are some great examples to illustrate statements that lock a visitor’s interest and give them a solution.

If I’m searching for a functional nutritionist:

“Personalised nutritional therapy using the functional medicine approach”

If I’m looking for home removalists:

“Relaxed relocation? MOVU: the moving destresser™”

If I’m looking for home-delivered fresh coffee beans:

“ONLINE SHOP You can now easily order our coffee at home.”

Once their interest is captured, they will scroll down to the next section of importance, where you explain in bullet points why the visitor should choose you over your competitors.

2) Improve user-friendliness with user-intuitive menus and better navigation

I’m sure you’ve visited websites with illogical navigation that is so frustrating that you give up and visit another page instead. This should not happen in this day and age of web design.

A carefully considered sitemap with logical, intuitive menus, links and navigation buttons is a surefire way to keep a visitor on your website.  It’s easy to do and completely attainable if your website has a precise purpose and you have a clear vision of what you want your visitor to experience. Collaborating with a good web designer who has a comprehensive understanding of your business and what you want to achieve with your website should be able to deliver this.

3) Consider new features to enhance the website experience

There are many new features you can add to a website to enhance the experience for your visitors. A good web designer should be able to suggest suitable features. These could include a beautiful gallery featuring your projects, a video section demonstrating the functionality of your products, or a blog page that helps drive visitors to your website.

But don’t overdo it – a website with feature overkill can just as easily scare off visitors!

4) Make it mobile-compatible

Most people look at websites from their mobile phones rather than PCs, laptops, or tablets. I can’t stress the importance of making sure that your website is mobile-compatible with mobile-enhanced functionality and features. An experienced web designer will take both formats into account when designing your website.

5) Revamp your brand image

A business changes and evolves over the years; sometimes, the brand needs revamping too. Your website reflects how you want to come across to your audience. It showcases your business, and to do this effectively, your brand and message should be uniform across all forms of communication.

A website is a smart way to reinforce your brand image and message to visitors, potential clients and customers.

6) Regularly maintain your website and fix existing issues

Do you want to come across as unprofessional and unreliable to your clients and potential customers? If your website is static, not updated, or has broken links and outdated information, you tick all the boxes.

It is vital to ensure your website is regularly maintained once it’s online. And keep it fresh for your regular visitors with new posts and interesting content.
